A social network for sharing real moments without filters or AI.
Visit siteI was tired of opening a feed full of lives nobody actually lives, including the people posting them.
I got tired of opening social media and seeing a version of life nobody could live up to.
Perfect faces. Perfect places. Perfect moments.
And the strange part is that even the people posting it can't live like that. They're editing the same three good minutes out of an ordinary day, exactly like everyone else.
So I wondered what would happen if we removed the editing completely.
True Life Lens was a social app where what you captured was what you posted. Shoot in the app, in the moment. No filters, no AI enhancement, no photo picked out from three weeks ago.
I thought taking away the pressure to look perfect would feel freeing.
It didn't, really.
People say they want social media to be honest. What they keep opening is social media that looks beautiful. Reality is meaningful, but it isn't always nice to look at.
That contradiction ended up being more interesting to me than the app itself.
What it does
- Post only what the camera captured, with no filters or AI touch-ups.
- Shoot in the moment instead of uploading a curated old photo.
- A feed built around ordinary days rather than highlight reels.
Lesson
I built for the version of people they describe out loud, not the version that opens the app at midnight.
