Zero to One
Peter Thiel
On creating something new instead of copying what already works — and why monopoly thinking matters for startups.
What I wrote
This book pushed me to stop thinking only in incremental improvements. Going from 0 to 1 is a different kind of work than going from 1 to n.
I don’t agree with every idea, but the questions are strong — especially around competition and originality.
Learnings
- Competition is often a trap that looks like progress.
- The best companies create a small monopoly of real value.
- Ask bold questions about the future, not safer versions of today.
Quotes
“What important truth do very few people agree with you on?”
“Competition is for losers.”
